Russell's Sr. Photo
High School began in the Fall of 1931 for Russell.  During his career at Edmond High School he took advantage of several extra-curricular activities.  In shop class, he built the table and bookends displayed in the photo to the right. 

Even though he grew up on the farm, he didn't care much for farming but he liked the machinery.  By the time he graduated, his mechanical inclinations were evident.  One of his more clever innovations was rigging a goat to pull a wagon.  This invention also gives us an idea of his sense of humor.

Like many young men, Russell was involved in athletics, lettering in Wrestling.  The photo shown here is his the team he was on and his letter certificate is below.  Unfortunately we don't have the names of anyone else in the photo.  Perhaps you recognize some these young athletes.  If so, we'd like to include their names so
let us know.
